Headed by Zweig Group, ​ElevateHer is a movement to ensure equal opportunities in the AEC industry for everyone regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. It was inspired by the realization that the industry is challenged by women not entering or staying in the fields of engineering, architecture, construction and related fields at the same rate as men. In addition, there still remains a salary gap between men and women in leadership roles.

Shannon Acevedo, MDG's Senior Planner, participated in the first-ever class of go-getters in the industry to face this challenge and come up with solutions to close these gaps. Read more about her experience below.

MDG Gives Back - Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience

At MDG it is not only our responsibility, but our passion to give back and make the world we share a better place. Our home is Florida's beautiful First Coast and we take to heart the importance of maintaining and restoring our coastlines, waterways and wildlife. We are proud to be sponsors for two programs at the UNF Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience: the Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation Program and the Oyster Restoration Program.

The Sea Turtle Hospital rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured sea turtles and promotes sea turtle conservation in Northeast Florida.The Whitney Laboratory Oyster Restoration Initiative is working to restore lost and degraded oyster reef habitats along shores of the Matanzas and Summer Haven River Basins. The work these programs are doing is essential to maintaining the health and beauty of our coast and we are proud to contribute to their efforts.

MDG Gives Back - Construction Career Days

MDG staff enjoyed the chance to participate in the FDOT D2 sponsored Construction Career Days event this year. Since 1999, this educational outreach program for high school students has increased in size and has become a huge success. It's designed to cultivate student interest in a wide variety of construction careers while giving them a chance to participate in field-related activities.

MDG Gives Back - 7th Annual Clays for a Cause

This was our fifth year participating in Clays for a Cause, a sporting clay shoot presented by MasterCraft Builder Group. Together we raised $158,000 for St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), Seamark Ranch, and American Legion Post 194. We're honored to get to help out our community, and we had a great time!

MDG Gives Back - 11th Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit Habitat for Humanity of St. Augustine

It was great weather and golf for a great cause at the 11th Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Habitat for Humanity of St. Augustine/St. Johns County. Together we were able to raise over $24,000 for Habitat for Humanity! Thank you St. Johns Golf and Country Club for hosting such a wonderful event. Helping our community is a core value of MDG, and we are proud to support Habitat for Humanity and the families they serve.

MDG Gives Back - 2nd Annual 1000 Days of Hope Golf Tournament

It all starts with the first 1000 days of a baby’s life! MDG is happy to have once again sponsored the 1000 Days of Hope Golf Tournament to benefit the Foundation Pierre Smith Mondelus health program providing relief, development, and reconciliation in Northern Haiti. Their health program, Santé Pon Patnè, was created to improve the health and nutrition of the community of Milot, Haiti.

MDG Gives Back - Pink up the Pace

MDG was a Bronze level sponsor in the Pink up the Pace 5k walk/run. The mission of Pink up the Pace is to have a positive impact on the lives of those affected by breast cancer in St. Augustine and the surrounding areas. This event raises money to assist the uninsured and underinsured in the early detection of breast cancer and increase public awareness of the importance of early detection.
