CAD DESIGNER (St. Augustine Office)

This position is responsible for providing engineering design support to the project management staff for retail, office, residential, municipal, and industrial development projects. CAD designers collaborate with our civil engineers to design a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to: roads and sidewalks, commercial complexes and buildings, small to large subdivisions, parks and recreational facilities, marinas, small airports, and churches and schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Work from architectural plans and base files or land planning documents to produce engineering construction documents in AutoCAD/Civil 3D

  • Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings and window names, and file names for sheet layout

  • Be proficient in preparing high-quality, innovative and accurate plan drawings in Civil 3D

  • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision and red lines

  • Use creative design approach to solve design challenges and have meticulous attention to detail

  • Effectively monitor and manage budgeted hours and schedule deadlines of multiple projects at the same time to keep CAD tasks profitable and meet project schedules

  • Inform project manager(s) and client managers of progress on assigned projects and communicate design concerns

  • Have excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, along with a strong work ethic and sense of personal accountability

  • Be able to work cohesively in a team environment and have good verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

 

Education / Experience:

  • Associates Degree or Diploma in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design

  • Three or more years’ experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D for land development engineering design work

  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D​

SR. CAD DESIGNER (St. Augustine Office)

This position is for a full-time CAD designer with land development and/or transportation design experience. CAD designers are responsible for providing engineering design support using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for a wide variety of project elements including site design, utilities, drainage, water and waste-water, grading, and roadway and parking lot designs. CAD designers collaborate with our engineers to design a broad range of projects including, but not limited to: roads and sidewalks, commercial complexes and buildings, small to large subdivisions, parks and recreational facilities, marinas, small airports, and churches and schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Work from architectural plans and base files or land planning documents to produce engineering construction documents in AutoCAD/Civil 3D

PROJECT ENGINEER 

MDG is growing and looking to hire a full-time Project Engineer. This position is responsible for assisting Project Managers and their team with projects, designs, and budgets.

Project Engineers collaborate with Professional Engineers and team members to design and provide support for a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to: roadways and sidewalks, bike paths and trails, commercial/industrial/educational/healthcare facilities, small to large residential developments, parks and recreational facilities, marinas, small airports, and churches.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with site design and permitting with various government agencies, stormwater calculations and design, utility construction and design, and project production support

  • Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings and window names, and file names for sheet layout

  • Be proficient in preparing high-quality, innovative and accurate plan drawings in Civil 3D

  • Effectively monitor and manage budgeted hours and schedule deadlines of multiple projects at the same time to keep all tasks profitable and meet project schedules

  • Inform project manager(s) and client managers of progress on assigned projects and communicate design concerns

  • Have excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, along with a strong work ethic and sense of personal accountability

  • Be a strong independent worker as well as being able to work cohesively in a team environment and have excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills


Education / Experience:

  • BS in the field of Civil Engineering

  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR (St. Augustine Office)

This position is for a full-time Construction Inspector who will be responsible for monitoring the contractor’s on-site construction activities and inspecting materials to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and other documents.

Competent and thorough inspection is one of the most important elements in achieving a quality construction project. Proper inspection requires not only technical expertise and knowledge of the materials and procedures to be used, but also sound judgment, diplomacy and good communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be a team player, is enthusiastic, motivated, honest, and dependable.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage construction phase services including contract administration and construction monitoring from pre-construction through project closeout consisting of municipal/private utility-type projects. 

  • Construction administration responsibilities include client coordination, response to RFI’s, processing of change orders, shop drawing review, construction schedule and approval of contractor pay applications 

  • Monitors single or multiple site construction activities for conformance with project plans and specifications • Prepares field reports and photos of construction activities and site investigations 

  • Troubleshoots construction issues providing alternative solutions and value engineering in collaboration with engineering staff • Review bid documents and technical specifications 

  • Provides construction observation training and mentoring of junior engineering staff 

  • Conducts meetings with clients and contractors 

  • Assist engineers with project permitting including permit applications and certifications Qualifications: 

  • High school degree/equivalent or better 

  • 5+ years of construction/engineering field observation experience 

  • Strong understanding of municipal/governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practices 

  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices

  • Perform QA/QC of construction plans as required.
